บทที่สามเกี่ยวกับเรื่องการถามทิศทางโดยใช้ Prepositions of place หรือคำที่ใช้บอกสถานที่
คำศัพท์ในบทนี้ก็จะเกี่ยวกับสถานที่ และ verbal phase ที่จะบอกว่าเราไปทำอะไรในสถานที่นั้นๆ และหลักไวยากรณ์ที่จะบอกว่า มีสถานที่อะไร อยู่ที่ไหน เป็นต้น
Grammar
There is/There are
There is และ There are นั้นมีความหมายว่า “มี” เหมือนกัน และการจะบอกว่ามีสิ่งของอะไรอยู่ที่ไหนก็ใช้รูปประโยคดังต่อไปนี้
There + Verb to be (is or are) + Nouns (คำนาม) + Prepositions of place (คำบอกสถานที่)
แต่ใช้แตกต่างกันตรงที่
There is ใช้กับการบอกว่ามีสิ่งของอยู่จำนวน 1 อัน หรือเป็นเอกพจน์นั่นเองเช่น
There is a school near the clock tower.
There is a Police station across from the market.
There is a soccer field in RMU.
และ There are ใช้กับการบอกว่ามีสิ่งของอยู่จำนวน 2 อย่างขึ้นไป หรือ พหูพจน์ เช่น
There are schools in Mahasarakham province.
There are shops in the Market.
There are gas stations on Mahasarakham-Kantharavichai road.
การตั้งคำถามโดยใช้ there is / there are ทำได้ตามรูปประโยคนี้
Verb to be + There + Nouns + Prepositions of place ? เช่น
Is there a bank near here?
Is there a police station in this town?
Are there book stores in the department store?
การใช้กริยาช่วยอย่าง verb to be ขึ้นมาช่วยในการตั้งคำภามที่หน้าประโยคเช่นนี้เราเรียกมันว่า yes no question
และจะตอบได้สองกรณีนั่นคือ
Yes
เช่น Is there a bank near here? Yes, there is.
Are there book stores in the department store? Yes, there are.
และ No เช่น
Is there a bank near here? No, there is not.
Are there book stores in the department store? No, there aren’t.
เป็นต้น
Some/Any
มีความหมายเหมือนกัน คือ “บางจำนวน”
เช่น some books หนังสือซักสองสามเล่ม
Any girls สาวๆ ซักสองสามคน
แต่ใช้ต่างกัน คือ some ใช้กับประโยคบอกเล่าเช่น
There are some schools downtown.
There are some gas stations near department store.
และ any ใช้กับประโยคคำถามและปฏิเสธเช่น
Are there any restaurants in the neighborhood?
There are not any train stations in Mahasarkham.
READING
Retail area – place where you can buy things
Aquarium – พิพิธภัณฑ์ใต้น้ำ (เอาไปเสิจใน google เพื่อเห็นภาพ)
Air line package tour – ตั๋วเครื่องบินที่ซื้อไปเที่ยวโดยเฉพาะ
As + adj +as ….. แปลว่า…..เท่าๆกับ เช่น as long as ยาวเท่าๆกับ as high as สูงเท่าๆกับ
As handsome as หล่อเท่าๆกับเช่น That boy is as handsome as Dome. หมอนั่นหล่อเท่าๆกับโดมเลยหละ
Entire- ทั้งหมด entire mall ทั่วทั้งห้าง entire world ทั่วทั้งโลก
Prepositions of place
Across ถ้าข้ามถนนไปเราจะเจอ
Across from สถานที่หนึ่งตรงข้ามกับสถานที่หนึ่ง
Around แถวๆนั้น
Down อยู่สุดถนน
Next to ติดกลับ
Near ใกล้ๆ
