อย่างที่ได้เคยย้ำเสมอในห้องเรียนว่า What do you do? นั้นหมายถึง คุณทำอาชีพอะไร?
ซึ่งอาจจะสับสนกับ How do you do? คุณเป็นไงบ้าง
และ What do you do in everyday? วันๆคุณทำอะไรบ้างดังนั้นบทเรียนนี้จะพูดถึงอาชีพต่างๆ
ที่มนุษย์พึงจะกระทำเพื่อการอยู่รอดได้ ตลอดจนความรู้สึกกับงานที่ทำ

การใช้ WH questions กับ Verb to DO
การใช้ Verb to Do มีหลักการง่ายๆ ดังนี้
Do ใช้กับ ประธาน I you we they และ พหูพจน์อื่นๆ (Plural) เช่น
What do you do?
Where do they live?
Who do Joey and Peter work for?
Does ใช้กับ ประธาน He She It และ เอกพจน์ (singular) อื่นๆ เช่น
What does she do?
Where does he live?
Who does Leonel work for?
กลับมาที่การตั้งคำถาม เราสามารถตั้งคำถามโดยใช้ verb to do ด้วยรูประโยคต่อไปนี้
Wh (what where who ) + Verb to DO + Subject + verb or verbal phase + ?
เช่น What do they do? พวกเขาทำอาชีพอะไร?
Where does she live? เธออาศัยอยู่ที่ไหน?
Who does Andy work for? แอนดี้ทำงานให้ใคร
ซึ่งการตอบคำถามเหล่านี้ ก็ขึ้นกับตัว WH ที่ใช้ในประโยค และ verbal phase เช่น
What do they do? They are doctors.
Where does she live? She lives in Milan.
Who does Andy work for? They work for Honda?
เป็นต้น
Present simple และ Subject verb agreement
ในการตั้งประโยค present simple นั้น เราจำเป็นต้องพิจารณาหลักการ Subject verb agreement นั่นคือการ เติม “S” หลัง verb นั่นเอง
ซึ่งโดยปรกติแล้ว รูปประโยคของ Present simple คือ
S+Verb(s)+O.
เช่น I eat Salad. She drives so fast. David drinks water.
หลักการเติม s ก็เหมือนกับ verb to do คือ
เติม s ในประโยคที่มีประธานเป็นเอกพจน์ และ he she It เช่น
She loves her father.
It bites its own tail.
He plays guitar very well.
และไม่เติม s ในประโยคที่มีประธานเป็นพหูพจนจ์ และ I you we they เช่น
We love the King.
You hurt me.
I like facebook.
และการทำ present simple ให้เป็นประโยคปฎิเสธทำได้โดย
S+ verb to do + not + O. เช่น
She loves her father. She doesn’t love her father.
It bites its own tail. It doesn’t bite its own tail.
He plays guitar very well. He doesn’t play guitar well.
You hurt me. You don’t hurt me.
I like facebook. I don’t like facebook.
*จะสังเกตได้ว่า การเติม s นั้นใช้แค่ในประโยคบอกเล่าเท่านั้น
ความรู้สึกที่มีต่องานใช้ได้กับระโยคต่อนี้
I think a ……….has a ……job. เช่น
I think a soldier has a dangerous job. ผมมองว่าทหารเป็นอาชีพที่อันตราย
I think a security guard has a boring job. ผมมองว่า รปภ. เป็นอาชีพที่น่าเบื่อ
